Series Description

The Event TV show was a 60 minute drama series on NBC about a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) graduate named Sean Walker who was looking into the unexplained disappearance of his fiance when he discovered that the U.S. Government knew about an upcoming worldwide extinction catastrophe and is hiding it from the public. The Event Trivia:

The original script for the Event TV show was written by Nick Wauters in 2006. It was presented to NBC by producer Steve Stark in 2009. Casting began in early February of 2010 and on May 7, 2010 NBC announced that they had ordered the production of the series. One week later NBC followed up by announcing that the Event would be aired on Monday evenings at 9PM eastern time during the fall 2010 season.

An additional character was added in the middle of July and NBC has been very mysterious about the role. Clifton Collins Jr. will play the part named as simply "Thomas" with no last name at this point. He was described as being "a key player in the show's secret conspiracy".

Blair Underwood's role as the Afro-American President of the United States was originally written for a hispanic actor. Laura Innes' role as the leader of the inmates at a peculiar prison complex was first conceived for a male actor.

Blair Underwood who plays the President of the United States on The Event TV show is one of the most in demand actors in show business. He most recently starred on the series, "Dirty Sexy Money". He's also had starring roles on "LAX", "Fatherhood", "City of Angels (2000)", "High Incident", "Downtown", and the series that made his a star, "L.A. Law".

The Event TV show's director, "Jeffrey Reiner", has most recently directed multiple episodes of the series, "Trauma" and "Friday Night Lights". When asked his opinion after reading the script for the pilot, he described it as a "page turner".

Unlike other mysterious series that have aired in recent years such as "LOST" and "Flash Forward", the producers of The Event have promised that mysteries will be revealed in a more timely manner with a few as early as the second episode! This will, hopefully, reduce the agonizing over having no idea what's going on for episode after episode.

The Event TV show was one of only four new series screened at the July 2010 Comic-Con convention in San Diego, California. Apparently the preview audience loved it because Reuters News Service said that due to the crowd's reactions as they were leaving the screening "NBC's fall drama "The Event" came up a big winner".
