Series Description:

The Mary Tyler Moore Show was a comedy series about an independent woman of the 1970s. After breaking up with the man she'd been dating for four years, Ms. Richards moved to Minneapolis to start a new life. The theme revolved around her relationships with friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Trivia:

Ms. Richards worked as the associate producer of a local news program on television station WJM-TV.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show inspired the "spin-off" of two other series. They were, "Rhoda (1974)" and "Lou Grant (1977)".

Mary eventually was promoted from associate producer to producer and Lou Grant moved up from Producer to Executive Producer.

On the final episode, new management took over the TV station and, in order to improve the ratings for the show, fired the entire staff except for Ted Baxter who was actually the main reason for the low ratings!
