Lou Grant Trivia:
Lou Grant was a "Spin-Off" of the "Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970)". During the final episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Lou Grant was fired from his job at station WJM-TV in Minneapolis making it necessary for him to move on to a new job and a new series!
Although CBS stated that Lou Grant was cancelled due to declining ratings, many felt that Ed Asner's political activism may have been a contributing factor. Ed Asner himself accused CBS of cancelling Lou Grant due to his views on U.S. involvement in Central America.
