Scooby Doo Where Are You Theme Lyrics

Written by: "David Mook" and "Ben Raleigh"

Performed by: "Matthew Sweet" and "MxPx"

Scooby-Dooby-Doo, Where Are You?
We got some work to do now.
Scooby-Dooby-Doo, Where Are You?
We need some help from you now.

Come on Scooby-Doo, I see you... pretending you got a sliver
But you're not fooling me, cause I can see, the way you shake and shiver.

You know we got a mystery to solve,
So Scooby Doo be ready for your act. [Scooby Doo] Uh-uh Uh-uh
Don't hold back!
And Scooby Doo if you come through
you're going to have yourself a scooby snack!
That's a fact!

Scooby-Dooby-Doo, here Are You.
You're ready and you're willing.
If we can count on you Scooby Doo,
I know you'll catch that villain

Scooby Doo Where Are You Trivia

Enid Blyton's "Famous Five" books about four kids and their dog solving mysteries and crimes was the inspiration for the storylines on Scooby Doo, Where Are You? The 1959 series, "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" was the inspiration for the characters. Dobie Gillis became Fred. Thalia Menninger became Daphne. Zelda Gilroy became Velma. Maynard G. Krebs became Shaggy. The 1940s radio show, "I Love a Mystery" also had an influence on this series.

Scooby's name came from "Scooby the Seal" on the 1967 cartoon series, "Moby Dick and the Mighty Mightor". Both characters also had the same voice provided by Don Messick!

While only 25 episodes of Scooby Doo, Where Are You were produced, fans had ample opportunities to see Scooby and his pals after the series ended. These episodes re-ran on CBs until 1976 and then on ABC until 1991. They also appeared on the USA Network from 1990-1994 and continue to run on the Cartoon Network, Boomerand and in syndication to this day (as of 2011). The series also returned with another 40 new adventures from 1976-1978 on "The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour". It was a good partnership as Dynomutt was also a dog that went on adventures each week.

It may seem like all of the gang was in every episode but, in fact, Scooby and Shaggy were the only characters who didn't miss a single episode.

Ironically, Frank Welker and Casey Kasem had originally wanted to audition for each other's roles. Frank wanted to do Shaggy's voice because he had always played the straight man and wanted to do a comedy character. Casey didn't feel that he'd do that well with comedy so he wanted to provide the voice for Fred. As it turned out, they both performed admirably in their roles!

Shaggy was the nickname of that character. His real first name was Norville.

At the end of most episodes, the villian whose evil efforts had been foiled would say, "And I would have gotten away with it if it hadn't have been for you kids"!
