Penelope Pitstop Trivia

This series was modeled after the 1914 silent serial, "The Perils of Pauline" that was shown in one 30 minute episode and then nineteen more 20 minute episodes that ran in movie theaters across the U.S. The idea was to leave the heroine (Pauline) in a situation that seemed hopeless at the end of each segment. Then movie-goers would return for the next movie so they could find out what happened to Pauline. The Perils of Penelope Pitstop did the same thing for kids in the late 1960s. It ensured that they would tune in for next week's episode!

Penelope Pitstop was originally a character on the cartoon show, "Wacky Races".
