Series Description:
The Two and a Half Men TV Show is a 30 minute comedy series on CBS about a wealthy, swinging-single bachelor whose straight-laced brother and 10-year-old son move in with him. The brothers' different lifestyles and the bachelor's new-found experiences relating with a child in his household offers plenty of funny fodder for the series' writers!
Two and a Half Men Cast:
Charlie Sheen ........... Charlie Harper
Jon Cryer ............... Alan Harper
Angus T. Jones .......... Jake Harper
Marin Hinkle ............ Judith Harper
Holland Taylor .......... Evelyn Harper
Conchata Ferrell ........ Berta
Melanie Lynskey ......... Rose
Two and a Half Men Trivia:
Holland Taylor was not the first choice to play Charlie and Alan's mother, Evelyn Harper, on the show. Blythe Danner was hired for that role, played it in the pilot, and even began rehearsals for the regular episodes but had to quit due to other commitments.
Jon Cryer auditioned for the role of Chandler Bing on the series, "Friends". He was performing in a play in London at the time of auditions so he had to send a videotape rather than auditioning in person. Unfortunately for Jon, the tape didn't arrive until after NBC had already hired Matthew Perry.
It's understandable why Alan is always complaining about his alimony and why he's usually broke. His alimony payments come to $46,500 per year!
If you listen closely, you'll notice that the title of each episode is also a line spoken within that episode.
Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer had worked together once before, a dozen years before "Two and a Half Men" in the movie, "Hot Shots"! Jon Cryer also has a son named Charlie!
Unlike on most TV sets, the refridgerator in Charlie's kitchen actually works! Now ... the question is ... why don't they on other shows?
Charlie Sheen is the son of actor Martin Sheen (The West Wing). Most of us have heard about Charlie's troubles with the law over drug use charges, (by the way, he's been sober since 1998), but you may not realize that Martin has been arrested more than 70 times! Martin is very active politically and has been willing to go to jail for illegal protests and such when he believes in the cause. Martin has stated in public that actor Carroll O'Connor (All in the Family) was instrumental in helping Charlie to shake off his drug problems.
Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer did not sing the theme song. They lip-synced to the track that was sung by a number of in-studio musicians.
