Series Description

The Stingers TV show was a 60 minute Australian crime drama series on Channel Nine about the personal and professional lives of the members of an undercover unit of the Victoria Police Department.

Stingers Trivia

Peter Phelps and Kate Kendall are the only two Cast who appeared on all 192 episodes.

Some of the characters left the series by being killed off on the show. Unfortunately, Richard Morgan left due to his real-life death from motor neurone disease at the young age of only 48.

The Stingers TV show was inspired by real-life cases.

The series was not just popular in Australia. It was also broadcast in 65 other nations including Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, France, Iran, Ireland, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the United Kingdom!

Stingers got just so-so ratings in its first season. The producers decided that the characters hadn't been developed adequately for fans to identify with them so they concentrated heavily on that in season two and ratings soared.

A couple of the members of the Stingers unit used aliases on duty. Detective Church's real name was Mike Fischer and Constable Oscar Stone's was Cameron Pierce.

Sergeant Rocca left the unit in season two after being shot and Mac took over his job.

By the eighth season Stingers' ratings were dropping off pretty low and Channel Nine moved the series to a later time slot. That definitely killed the series and it was canceled.
