Series Description:The Stargate Atlantis TV show is a 60 minute sci-fi series on the Sci-Fi Channel about a team of scientists and military people who travel from Earth's stargate to the city of Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy where an ancient civilization once existed. That civilization is known as "The Ancients" and they've left behind a complex loaded with advanced technology, spacecraft, and another stargate network in this new galaxy! Unfortunately, much of the advanced technology is no longer working or not working well due to millenia of abandonment. And there is one more slight problem. A race called "The Wraith" appear to have beaten the Ancients in a war and are still around with an overwhelming appetite for human flesh!Stargate Atlantis Cast:Torri Higginson ........... The two hour premier of Stargate Atlantis was seen by over 4.2 million viewers. That broke the Sci-Fi channel's record! There are two Puddle Jumpers used in filming Stargate Atlantis. One of them is open and used for shots in the studio and for interior shots. The other is closed, and is used on location. Joe Flanigan's character got his name (John Sheppard) from the head writer of the series, "MacGyver". Rachel Luttrell got her character's name (Teyla) from a combination of series creator Brad Wright's daughter's names. Their names are "Tessa" and "Kayla". Those names were also used on the series, "Stargate SG-1" for General Hammond's grandchildren! In the two-part premiere titled, "Rising", Dr. Weir touches a dead plant and states that they need to get rid of the million-year old dead plants in Atlantis. In some future episodes, if you look through the window of Weir's office, you can see that the dead plant is still there. Note in the cast list above that actor James Lafazanos plays the parts of all Wraith males on Stargate Atlantis!
