Sliders TV Show

Sliders Cast

Series Description

The Sliders TV show was a 60 minute sci-fi series that aired its first three seasons on the FOX Network and its final two seasons on the Sci-Fi channel. It was about a group of people who had a device that allowed them to travel to "alternative Earths"! For example, the second half of the pilot found the travelers on an Earth where the Russians had won the cold war and ruled the United States. That might sound pretty cool but when their device malfunctioned, they lost the ability to get back to their version of Earth! The device also started forcing them to "slide" to a different Earth whenever the broken timer ran out! They were forced to slide over and over again, sometimes finding pleasant Earths but usually finding trouble of some kind.

Sliders Trivia

Jerry O'Connell read for two TV pilots during his junior year at the NYU Film School. He went to Los Angeles for one day only and landed the role of Bailey Salinger on the series, "Party of Five (1994)". He was the second choice for the role of Quinn Mallory on the Sliders TV show but the actor who was the first choice backed out and Jerry decided to take that leading role instead!

Cleavant Derricks who played "Rembrandt 'Crying Man' Brown" was the only cast member to stay throughout Sliders entire run.

Sliders Opening Narrative

(Voice of Jerry O'Connel: Seasons 1-4 and Cleavant Derricks: Season 5)

(Season 1:) "What if you could find brand new worlds right here on Earth, where anything is possible? Same planet, different dimension. I found the gateway"

(Season 2:) "What if you could travel to parallel worlds. The same year, the same Earth, only different dimensions. A world where the Russians rule America or where your dreams of being a superstar came true or where San Francisco was a maximum security prison. My friends and I found the gateway. Now the problem is...finding a way back home."

(Seasons 3-5:) "What if you found a portal to a parallel universe? What if you could slide into a 1000 different worlds? Where it's the same year and you're the same person but everything else is different. And what if you can't find your way home?"
