The Senator Trivia:

A 1970 TV movie, "A Clear and Present Danger" was the basis for The Senator TV show. That movie was one of the first to emphasize the dangers of air pollution.

The Senator was one of four drama series that made up "The Bold Ones". The other series were "The Lawyers", "The New Doctors", and "The Protectors". They were all drama series and shared the same time slot. You can learn more about the other series or general information about "The Bold Ones" by clicking on the hyperlinked titles above!

Among many other award nominations and wins for the cast and crew, The Bold Ones: The Senator won an Emmy in 1971 for "Outstanding Drama Series". It had to compete against fellow nominees: "The First Churchills", and "Marcus Welby, M.D.", and "Ironside" in order to win the award!

Hal Holbrook also won an Emmy that same year for "Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Series". He had to compete against Robert Young and Raymond Burr (again for Marcus Welby and Ironside) and he also beat Mike Connors for his role on "Mannix".
