"This is the true story of seven strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped. Find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real. The Real World, Chicago." Yes, that was the weelly intro to the MTV Real World Chicago reality TV show. Seven people picked from hundreds of thousands of "wanna-be" real-worlders. Applicants sent in a video tape of themselves hoping to be one of those selected. Real World actually began in 1992 in New York City and was the first reality show on television. The success of Real World was undoubtably the driving force behind the decision to produce Big Brother, Survivor and other later reality shows. The producers did a great job each season of picking members of the cast from different political, economic and ethnic backgrounds. This was sure to provide interesting interactions!
