Project Greenlight was a reality television series where struggling movie directors and writers competed to win the right to make a movie with a $1 million budget. The first few episodes were spent determining the winners and then the rest followed the directors, writers, cast, and crew as they made the movie. Especially exciting were the final few episodes where we find out whether the studio felt that the movie was good enough to distribute to theaters and how much they would be willing to promote it! It was a very good vehicle for those of us not in show business to see exactly what steps are involved in getting a movie into theaters!
