Series Description:

    

Necessary Roughness is a 60 minute drama series on the USA network about a therapist who caught her husband cheating on her so she divorced him. She begins her new life as a single mother raising two teenagers. Her career flourished after the divorce when she became therapist to many of the most famous people in America but the demands of her job and her motherly duties combined make her life a very challenging one.

Necessary Roughness Trivia:

The original title for this series was "Dr. Donna" but it was changed to "Necessary Roughness" in May of 2010 when the USA Network ordered a pilot to be filmed.

Necessary Roughness is based on the real life of Dr. Donna Dannenfelser, explaining the original title noted above. Dr. Donna was the psychologist for the New York Jets NFL football team.
