Mystery Science Theater 3000 Theme Song

Title: "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Theme"

(Episodes 801-913)

Written By: "The Brains"

Performed By: "Mike Nelson & Mary Jo Pehl"

In the not-too-distant future,
somewhere in time and space,
Mike Nelson and his robot pals
are caught in an endless chase,

Pursued by a woman whose name is Pearl,
an evil gal who wants to rule the world.
She threw a few things in her purse,
and in her rocketship she hunts him all across the universe.
(Pearl) I'll get you!!!

(Pearl) I'll send him cheesy movies,
the worst I can find, la, la, la.
He'll have to sit and watch them all,
and I'll monitor his mind, la, la, la.
Now keep in mind Mike can't control
where the movies begin or end, la, la, la.
He'll try to keep his sanity,
with the help of his robot friends.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 Trivia

Joel Hodgson, the series creator, served as the original host. He played a lab technician who had been abducted from the Gizmonics Institute. He escaped in 1993 and the writer of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Mike Nelson took over as host playing himself.

As time went by, Mystery Science Theater 3000 had more and more difficulty finding movies to air. The studios who owned the movies became less appreciative of the sarcastic treatment they would receive on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The first episode produced did not air. Episodes 2-21 aired on UHF Cable Access channel "KTMA" in Minneapolis. In the second season, Mystery Science Theater 3000 moved to the brand new "Comedy Channel", later to be renamed, "Comedy Central". They canceled it at the end of the eighth season due to falling ratings but that wasn't the end of Mystery Science Theater 3000. It featured only science fiction movies after moving to the Sci-Fi Channel for its final three seasons.
