Louie is a 30 minute comedy series on FX about a single dad raising two daughters who performs as a stand-up comedian at night. It's almost like this series is really two shows in one though as the events in dad's life have nothing to do with his comedy routines. In fact, the stand-up routines mostly reflect things in Louis C.K.'s real life. Louis writes, directs, edits and almost single-handedly stars in this series so if you're a fan you should like it a lot!
Louis C.K. .... Louie (2010-)
Hadley Delany .... Lilly (2010-2011)
Ursula Parker .... Jane (2010-2011)
Pamela Adlon .... Pamela (2010-2011)
Nick DiPaolo .... Nick (2010-2011)
Todd Barry .... Todd (2010-2011)
C.K. uses a MacBook Pro to edit the raw footage for each episode.
In addition to C.K.'s comedy routines having little to do with the subject of the episode, there is also little continuity between episodes. In some ways it's like each episode is its own series with a slightly common theme. In the first season alone, Louie's mom changes from a nasty old lady into a very nice middle-aged lady and there's no explanation of why the change occurred. Louie's daughters are played by different actresses on different episodes. In the second season his loser brother Robert and his mom simply disappear with no explanation and suddenly Louie has two sisters who were never mentioned before.
Red digital cameras are used to shoot the episodes.
