The Kings TV show was a 60 minute drama series on NBC about a modern day alternate reality world where a war hero had become the King of his country. Although it took place in a fictional 21st century setting, the series was loosely based on stories of King David in the bible. As you might expect, there were conflicts with other nations and several contenders for the throne who were more than willing to kill to become King.

Part of the reason that the Kings TV show didn't last long may have been that it was confusing to viewers in the initial weeks that it was on the air. Here's a King ruling a modern nation that looked like it was the United States! No explanation was given as to how this could have occured. Sometime during the second or third episode it became clear that the show was totally fictional about a world that never existed but by then many tuned out. If the first episode would have flashed back to the revolutionary war and showed the british as winners, this series with a King ruling a modern day, obviously western world nation with automobiles and skyscrapers may have done much better.
If you didn't see the Kings TV show you probably still know Ian McShane from his roles on the "Bare Essence" and "Deadwood" TV shows or from his role as "Blackbeard" on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
The name of the nation that the King ruled was "Gilboa" and the capitol city was "Shiloh". It was shot in New York City and then computer graphics were used to alter the images. The Capitol Building was actually the Brooklyn Museum and its interior shots were done at the New York Pulbic library.
The Volvo C300 series were used as the vehicles for the Gilboa army. They are actually used by the Swedish Army in real life but they were painted differently for the show. Dylan Baker and Becky Ann Baker are real life husband and wife.
Allison Miller went from a princess on Kings to a settler in a colony in Earth's past, complete with dinosaurs on the "Terra Nova TV Show".
