Series Description:

    

The Intervention TV show is a 60 minute reality series on A&E where people with addictions of all types are told that they are being filmed for a documentary about their problem when in reality they will soon be facing an intervention by family and friends with the purpose of trying to get them to enter rehabilitation or in some other way overcome their addiction.

Intervention Trivia:

Some of the addictions highlighted on Intervention have included alcoholism, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, compulsive shopping, compulsive exercise, drug addiction, both legal and illegal, food addiction, inhalants addiction, gambling addiction, plastic surgery addiction, rage addiction, self-injury, sexual addiction and video game addiction.

Addictees are typically only convinced to rehabilitate by being threatened. Initial threats usually involve being cut off from friends and family both personally and financially. If that doesn't work, threats can be increased to things like contacting police if the addictee has an arrest warrant outstanding or taking custody away of dependent children. These methods may sound harsh but are the last effort to save the person's life after other more caring methods haven't worked.
