Series Description:

    

The Hoarders TV show is a 60 minute reality tv series on A&E about people who just can't throw anything away and I mean ANYTHING! Their homes become so cluttered that it's typically difficult to move from one room to another. Items are often stacked from floor to ceiling. Insect and other varmint infestations are common. Hoarders aids the family of these hoarders by trying to convince them to part with their hoard by bringing in psychologists, organizers and cleaning professionals. It's amazing to watch how hard it is to convince these "sick" people of the need to clean things up even though virtually everyone they love insists that it is necessary.

Hoarders Trivia:

In the majority of cases, the threat of being evicted or the loss of children by family services is what convinces the hoarders to reluctantly give change a try.

The first episode of Hoarders was seen by 2.5 million viewers and was thereby the highest rated premiere in A&E history among the coveted 18-49 year old audience.

Hoarders doesn't just film an episode and then walk away from the hoarder. They provide funds for 6 months of professional help and sometimes even make emergency repairs to the person's home!

During the final credits of each episode of Hoarders, there is text on the screen that tells what the results of the intervention were since the episode was filmed and whether or not the hoarder agreed to receive continued help from organizers or psychologists.
