Debbie Reynolds Trivia
The setting for the Debbie Reynolds Show was conveniently located in Los Angeles, California. The newspaper that Jim Thompson wrote for was the "Los Angeles Sun".
Older fans know Debbie Reynolds from her many movies of the 1950s and 1960s, most notably "Singin' in the Rain (1952)", "The Tender Trap (1955)", "Tammy and the Bachelor (1957)", "The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964)" and "The Singing Nun (1966)". While Debbie's movie career by no means ended, she moved heavily onto the small screen at the end of the seventies. Younger audiences probably know Debbie best from her ten episodes as "Bobbi Adler", Grace's mother on the hit series "Will and Grace".
Debbie played another mother on TV when she guest-starred on an episode of "Roseanne" from the ninth season titled, "Arsenic and Old Mom". In one scene where she was wrestling with Roseanne, they got so into their roles that one of her ribs was accidentally broken!
The opening theme song for the Debbie Reynolds Show was titled, "With a Little Love (Just a Little Love)". The song was parodied on an episode of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" titled, "The Attila the Hun Show"!
Debbie Reynold's portrayal of Debbie Thompson has often been compared to Lucille Ball's portrayal of Lucy Carter on the series, "Here's Lucy".
