Bull Trivia

Bull is inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, who is also an executive producer on the show.

Michael Weatherly's character Doctor Jason Bull says the phrase, "I hate lawyers" in the very first episode of Bull. He also used that phrase many times in his role as Anthony DiNozzo on the series NCIS. Michael also used often says "I like Boss, call me Boss" on Bull and his character on NCIS was called "Boss" by the agents.

Eliza Dushku was fired from her role as J.P. Nunnelly after accusing Michael Weatherly of making jokes about her appearance, threesomes, rape and spanking that were directed towards her. Steven Spielberg pulled his production company Amblin Television off the series over the accusations and the rumors that CBS tried to cover it up. Outtakes of the show later confirmed Dushku's accusations and CBS paid her $9.5 million, the amount she would have earned if she had been on the series for four seasons! Weatherly later stated, "During the course of taping our show, I made some jokes mocking some lines in the script. When Eliza told me that she wasn't comfortable with my language and attempt at humor, I was mortified to have offended her and immediately apologized. After reflecting on this further, I better understand that what I said was both not funny and not appropriate and I am sorry and regret the pain this caused Eliza."

Dushku appeared only in the last three episodes of season one of Bull. She's best known for her roles on Dollhouse, Tru Calling and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
