Angel TV Series Trivia

The Angel TV series was a "spin-off" of the series, "Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1997)". Sometimes actors have to appear in several episodes before they become a regular on a series. Andy Hallett really stuck in there though. He guest-starred in over 40 episodes before his name was added to the opening credits on the 14th episode of the fourth season!

The producers wanted the series to air immediately after "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" on Tuesday evenings. When the head of programming at the WB network said that the schedule was not written in stone, the producers sent her a rock with, "Angel, Tuesdays, 9PM" carved onto it.

The initial concept for the series was to have Max Perlich who played the role of "Whistler" on two episodes of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" be Angel's sidekick. Max couldn't take the job so they created the role of "Doyle" instead.

David Boreanaz is the only cast member to appear in every single episode. And did you know that he was discovered while walking his dog? Or that he played the victim of a vampire in the 1996 film, "A Macabre Pair of Shorts?"

Charisma Carpenter was not pleased to find out that she had been named after an Avon perfume. She was a cheerleader in High School and later for the San Diego Chargers. She once worked as an aerobics instructor, property manager and Las Vegas lounge singer. Her first television job was in 1994 on an episode of "Baywatch (1989)". Aaron Spelling saw her on that series and, after an audition, gave her the role of Ashley on the short-lived series, "Malibu Shores." She auditioned for the lead role on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and ended out landing the role of Cordelia. She worried a lot about being typecast as a bitchy character until her agent explained that she wasn't well-known enough yet to be typecast. On her 26th birthday, she went skydiving and the WB network made her sign a clause that she wouldn't do so again until her contract was up.

In episode #38, "Epiphany", we saw Lindsey McDonald driving an old pick-up truck with an Oklahoma license plate. Christian Kane who plays Lindsey on the series actually drove to Hollywood in an old pick-up truck from his home in Oklahoma. When he left the series, he drove away in the same truck.

You really should record an episode and play back the portions during scene changes one frame at a time. Most scene changes have a frame with some other image between frames!
