The Adventures of Shirley Holmes producer Kim Todd stated that one of the main reasons for cancelation of the show was the fact that the entire tone of it would have had to be changed due to the fact that the Cast were becoming adults. Meredith Hendersen, for example was 13-years-old when the show premiered and would have been nearly 17 at the beginning of a fifth season. They certainly weren't children any longer.
