Unlike other medical drama series, the House television series is definitely one that is very different from the rest. This particular series can be classified as a drama and thriller series though the cast of House does not use their investigative skills to solve a crime, rather they use their skills to figure out what is causing the ailments of their patients.

The House television series is commonly known as House even though its official title is House, M. D. The entire series revolves around the life and work of Dr. Gregory House. He is one genius diagnostician who has a very unconventional way of going about his diagnosis and also about the way he deals with his team. He is both witty and serious at the same time. Doctor House’s diagnostic skills are not like the conventional methods the other doctors seem to follow. Usually his diagnosis not only looks at the symptoms that are out there, but also certain facts that the others seem to overlook. Thus, he typically comes up with a completely different diagnosis that is not even remotely related to the mentioned symptoms – and, of course, he is always right.

First released on the 16th of November in 2004, the House television series has magnificently risen to critical acclaim and has a large viewership. This particular show has also been nominated for a lot of awards and has won quite a few of them. Having received a Peabody Award in 2005, it just didn’t stop there. The show received two Golden Globes out of six nominations, it received the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2007 and 2009, it was nominated for three Emmys, won the Humanitas Prize in 2006, a writing Emmy in 2005, and also received the Primetime Emmy for best direction in 2008.

Though the House series was highly received by top critics, with time it actually seemed like it was losing its focus and the plots were running off track. Thankfully, in succeeding seasons the story line has been brought back to its original idea. The twists and the turns of this particular series have been unexpected throughout the entire series run.

The House television series started focusing upon Dr. House’s life, his work, and how it was unaffected by his compulsive use of Vicodin. Though the other doctors were concerned, he was still able to do his job even though when he was off duty he also drank alcohol excessively. Though the other doctors constantly wanted him to get some psychiatric assistance for his drug dependence, he would hear none of it. Through it all, their lives just went about as usual. The end of the final season brought about the most unexpected of twists when Dr. Gregory house actually admitted himself to psychiatric care at the Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital.

If you missed earlier episodes of the House television series don't despair! The series shows regularly and often in reruns and is also available on DVD. Trust me; you don’t want to miss this intriguing series about the amazing doctor who thinks out of the box.
