The show you're referring to was a mini-series titled, "Have Your Cake and Eat It" which aired on March 15, 16, 22 & 23 in 1997.
The lead character (played by Miles Anderson) was based on John Wardley who designed some of Britain's greatest roller coasters. Wardley also served as the script supervisor on the mini-series. Here's a list of the major cast members and the roles they played:
Miles Anderson as Sam Dawson
Holly Aird as Allie Gray
Jay Barrymore as Max Dawson
Kate Blackham as Doreen
James Bolam as Nat Oliver
David de Keyser as Michael
Sinead Cusack as Charlotte Dawson
Guy Faulkner as Stepen Dawson
Philip Glenister as Joe Martin
Rebecca Front as Claire Gray |

I doubt very much that it is available on dvd. Usually for rare shows like this I first check Amazon.com, then YouTube and then Hulu. If it's none of those places it's probably not available anywhere else legally. Be careful of oddball sellers as they are often ripoffs if they are the only source. When dvds are released by the studio that owns them they seldom are only available from one source you've never heard of. |
