I just bought an Amazon Kindle ebook reader. There are almost two million free ebooks available but most of them are ones in the public domain that were published before 1923.
I'm a sci-fi nut and was pleasantly surprised to find a ton of free sci-fi ebooks that are relatively recent. Many of them were Hugo award winners or by Hugo award-winning authors.
Most of them are available for the Kindle and in several other formats for lots of other devices! They are offered free from the Publisher's website so it's definitely 100% legal!
