Anyone remeber this show? It starred the guy who played Riccardo Montalbans son in the Star Trek 2 movie Wrath of Khan.
If I remeber right it dealt with him...an alien...that could harnes the power of the sun to heal and aid him in his quest of finding his way home. |

Judson Earney Scott starred in the 1982 series titled, "The Phoenix". There was a relatively successful TV movie in 1981 but the series only lasted 4 episodes.
Scott's character, "Bennu of the Golden Light", was an alien buried in an ancient Incan ruin when discovered by archeologists. After being released, he used his powers which were derived from sunlight to evade capture by the Peruvian's who thought he was a god and the American agents who knew he was an alien and wanted to dissect him.
His "super" weakness was that he was ridiculously powerless and weak in the absence of sunlight. |

With only 4 episodes of the Phoenix having been produced, it's unlikely that there will ever be a dvd release by the studio. Four episodes is probably not sufficient for a run on the sci-fi channel or some other network either unless they presented it as a short mini-series or something. The problem with that is most series that short didn't really have any "wrap up" of the storyline.
There is hope in the future though for all of the short run series. With online streaming video, it becomes very inexpensive to make these things available to very small numbers of customers. |
